Tuesday night saw a mouth watering, much awaited clash between Real Madrid and Manchester City end in a 1-1 draw, but the game showed why the footballing world was excited to see two of Europe’s best teams face against one and other.
Viní Jr was the talk of the night. Not only did he score an absolutely sensational goal, but he was also electric during the game and caused problems to Man. City. It is also worth mentioning Camavinga, who played as a left-back but yet again delivered a masterclass in that position.
After the match, there were two names that were mostly mentioned when talking about who should receive the MOTM award, the two names are as we mentioned, Viní Jr and Eduardo Camavinga. From Manchester City’s side, Ruben Dias deserved a lot of credit for his performance.
To the surprise of many, the award was given to Manchester City player Kevin de Bruyne and it’s safe to say that Madridistas were not the only people surprised by this decision.
CBS Sports’ Thierry Henry made his surprise clear when he got informed by Kate Abdo that Kevin de Bruyne received the award and not Viní Jr. “This is why there is a difference between ex-players and whoever voted. You’re telling me it’s not Vinícius that won that? Come on..” said Thierry after being told ‘KdB’ was the MOTM.
Thierry Henry sang his praises towards Viní Jr, saying that “We know what he can do and he did it.” Vini Jr’s wonder strike, added to his 5 dribbles completed, 9 duels won and completing the most ball carries back-ups the opinion of the all-time great.
This is not the first time the ex Arsenal & Barça player shows his admiration for Viní Jr. After the game against Chelsea in the previous round, Thierry said: “When I see him on the ball, he is cooking. I can feel it.” A sentence that is now popular amongst people on Twitter.
Anyhow, the tie is now all to play for at Manchester for a place in the Champions League final.
