How did you get into the journalist career and how does it work day to day?
I became a journalist because I always wanted to be a football player. When I realized (quite soon) that I wouldn’t get very far, I thought about doing something that would allow me to make a living from football. The simplest and most direct thing I found was journalism. That allowed me not only to continue watching all the games, something I’ve been doing since I was a child, but also to be able to enter stadiums and be close to the different players in the sport. And to round it all off, being able to communicate to fans about it will always be the most exciting part of my profession.
My day consists of three main things: thinking of possible topics, making calls (or sending messages) to look for information, and writing. When you don’t have information (it’s practically impossible to have it every day), I take the opportunity to do something more analytical or to work on a most worked report. Relevo, the website in which I have been working for almost a year, contains a lot of analytical work.
What has been your best moment within your career, so far?
Last year’s Champions League final was very special. Without a doubt, the most incredible event I have ever been able to attend. However, Real Madrid’s comeback against Manchester City at the Bernabeu made me even more excited.
From a more personal point of view, I have very good memories of my first day at AS. It was my first big media and I was fulfilling a dream.
What are Real Madrid’s current plans?
At the moment, trying to win the Champions League. Looking ahead to next year, I don’t expect too many changes in the squad. The first thing will be to find out what happens with Ancelotti. Then, in the market, I think Real will do something similar to last year: two or three signings at most to reinforce certain positions. Then, some departures to open the door to those new players who arrive and perhaps also to some from Castilla.
Jude Bellingham:
On Bellingham, negotiations with the player are advanced as we have reported in Relevo. With Dortmund the negotiation of price and payments is not going to be a problem. It is not closed, but is is heading that way, certainly many options he becomes the next Real Madrid star.

Kylian Mbappe:
Florentino still likes him a lot, despite the ugly gesture he experienced with him last summer. However, this year it is practically impossible that it can happen. The options certainly increase in the summer of 2024, when his contract with PSG expires. It is ‘one to watch’ for 2024.

Moussa Diaby:
There is currently no information on Diaby. He is a great player, but I would be very surprised if he was signed this summer, because of different factors, but this could change.

A potential right-back signing:
As for the right-back, I think Madrid will continue with Carvajal and Lucas and, in case they want to reinforce the position, there are several players in the youth academy on whom there are high hopes. In addition, there is still Nacho (we’ll see if he renews) who can also perform at a good level as a fullback.

The situation of Asensio and Ceballos:
Asensio and Ceballos are in a similar situation. Madrid wants to renew them both, but with very specific conditions. Now it is up to the players to decide if they want to continue or if they prefer to try to succeed in another team. Both have as a priority to remain at Madrid, but it is a difficult decision that could mark the rest of their careers.

Kubo and Brahim’s futures:
Brahim is a boy that Madrid has high hopes for. However, it is true that the possible renewal of Asensio would make his return very difficult. The player is happy in Milan, a starter and with the 10. I think it is an important file to follow and I do not rule out any option: that he returns or that he is sold.
Kubo is closely followed because Madrid still has 50% of the rights and a right of first refusal. I would love him because I think he is a great player, but it is true that he is a difficult addition.

Real Madrid contract extensions:
Vinicius, Rodrygo and Militao’s renewals have been completed. They will be announced very soon. Kroos and Modric are close to being officially closed. Benzema’s renewal is closed, it was activated once he won the Ballon d’Or.

A message from Jorge: ‘And finally, thank you for the work you do helping fans to be informed and being a loudspeaker for our news. Thank you for asking me to take part in this interview!’
