Fabrizio Romano spoke to Madrid Xtra via AMP [onamp] where we managed to ask him several questions regarding Real Madrid’s up and coming plans.
Camavinga:
Real Madrid want to extend Camavinga’s contract but they are not in a hurry. Camavinga is happy at Real Madrid and Real Madrid don’t want to sell. They are all happy together. It’s not something urgent. I’m sure they will do and hope to have a long term deal maybe adding another 2 years to his contract and a €1B release clause. When all the parties want the same thing, it’s just a matter of time.

Bellingham:
Real Madrid believe that Jude Bellingham is the biggest opportunity in the whole market in any position. They believe he will be a generational player. They will put all their energy on him. There is a talk of a €1 BILLION release clause added into his contract, with personal terms verbally agreed.

Diaby – Asensio & Brahim:
At the moment I’m not aware of anything advanced between Real Madrid and Diaby. In terms of wingers, I think their priority is to clarify what happens with Marco Asensio. This is gonna be the first point for them in the next week. Marco Asensio will be a crucial point. Then there is Brahim Díaz, he will officially come back to Real Madrid after his contract expires then at that point he will decide whether to renew with Real Madrid and stay or go back to Milan. They have to decide on many players before targeting someone like Diaby. Also because Diaby will be very expensive. I’m sure Leverkusen will ask for a lot or money. Not €30M or €35M, they will ask for way more. There are also many clubs involved, this is a very complicated one. I’m also sure that Real Madrid’s priorities are different.
Attacking reinforcements:
Honestly I would keep that open. I can’t tell you today in May that Real Madrid will 100% go for a striker because they don’t have any advanced negotiations regarding that but I can tell you that this is a possibility. It depends on the opportunities. There is a feeling at Real Madrid that a striker could join this summer. For example, Real Madrid are following Dani Olmo, he’s not a traditional #9 but Real Madrid are following him. I think for Real Madrid they could bring someone who is an opportunity rather than a super big name. This is the feeling.
The fullback situation:
Yes, there is a possibility Mendy leaves this summer. At the moment nothing is advanced regarding left-backs, I’m sure Real Madrid are following left-backs for the future but it’s not something advanced at this stage. Fran García is a done, he will be a Real Madrid player. I think the announcement will be after the campaign ends and in the summer they will try to clarify about the left back situation more once they see how much they can get for Ferland Mendy. Real Madrid always sell players in a smart way, they don’t give players for free or for stupid money.

Further Real Madrid plans:
I think that the market of Real Madrid will not be a fast one. After Jude Bellingham, they will look for opportunities for the striker, fullback positions, it could be slow. They want to finish Jude Bellingham’s signing then find opportunities for the striker and fullback positions.
